Ricky Rubio to miss Olympics and NBA season with knee injury

As we wrote yesterday, Ricky Rubio suffers knee injury defending Kobe Bryant. Rubio’s left knee buckled when he collided with Kobe Bryant in the final minute of game.

Rubio underwent MRI scans on Saturday that revealed the torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) in his left knee. Unfortunately, the worst fears has been confirmed.

This is very bad news for Minnesota Timberwolves since Ricky Rubio averaged 10.6 points, 8.2 assists and 4.2 rebounds in 41 games in this NBA season.

Also, this is bad news for Spain National team, since Ricky Rubio will probably miss Olympics 2012 in London, and it was expected that Ricky Rubio led his team to finals.

Timberwolves president of basketball operations David Kahn said: “I feel bad for Ricky having to miss the rest of this season. But Ricky is a competitor, and I am confident that he will work hard to get back on the court next year and continue his progression as one of the top point guards in our league.”

Kevin Love wrote on his Twitter account: “Love my teammate and friend (at)rickyrubio9, here’s to a quick recovery. We will miss you.”

I was hoping that this injury wasn’t that serious, but unfortunately it is serious. There is a long way to recovery for Ricky Rubio and hopefully, everything will be fine.
