Veljko Mrsic new Head coach of Cibona Zagreb
Just few days after it is announced that Jasmin Repesa signed with Unicaja, Cibona Zagreb hired Veljko Mrsic as new Head coach for next season.
Ex player of Cibona Zagreb will now sit on bench, and it will be his third team in his coaching career. He coached Split and Italian Varese.
In last few seasons, Veljko Mrsic coached young teams of Cibona and in last season as coach of Cedevita’s junior team coach won Croatian title.
In his career as player, Veljko Mrsic played for many teams: Cibona, Unicaja, Olympiacos, Zalgiris, Girona, Granada, Milano, Varese, Split, Fenerbahce and Kyiv.
As Croatian National player he played successfully as he won Bronze medals in World Championship 1994, and European Championship 1993 and 1995.
This will be a big challenge for Veljko Mrsic as he has no much coaching epxerience with senior teams, and Cibona always has big expectations in all competitions.
Since he coached junior team in Cedevita it is quite interesting that after they fired coach Drazen Anzulovic, they didn’t offer Head coaching position to Veljko Mrsic.
