United States wins 2012 Olympic Gold medal

2012 london olympic games

We couldn’t imagine better Final game in 2012 Olympic Basketball tournament. Two great teams, fulfilled with great names in their rosters, played one of the best games in Olympic tournament so far.

Much harder than expected, United States wins Gold medal with win over greatly motivated Spain with final score of 107:100.

Spain played fantastic and even I said that I am not fan of any of these teams in Bronze and Gold medal games, my sympathies was on Spain side in this game.

Even most of people, including me, expected quite easy win for Americans, Spain showed them that Europeans play very good Basketball as well.

In this game, or better say in the most of this game, Spain was better team, they played well organized and just few details decided this game on United States side.

I am sure that Coach Sergio Scariolo is very proud of his players as they played again the best team in the world, and they were great.

On the other hand, I am sure that Spain players even they won Silver medal, have reasons to be disappointed as they were so close.

Kevin Durant led the winners with 30 points. Lebron James added 19, Kobe Bryant had 17 while Chris Paul got 11 for USA. Pau Gasol led Spain with 24 points. Two-time Euroleague champion Juan Carlos Navarro of FC Barcelona Regal added 21, Marc Gasol 17, former Euroleague Rising Star Rudy Fernandez 14 and Serge Ibaka 12.

United States finished Olympic Basketball tournament as undefeated team and proved its dominance. However, team of Spain also proved that differences between European Basketball and NBA league is not that big anymore.

So, finally, Olympic Basketball tournament is over. Why I am saying finally. Even as a Basketball coach, or better say as person who is almost entire life involved in some ways in Basketball, I am little tired of everyday games.

I am sure that short break will be fine, as we need to prepare for upcoming seasons in ABA Adriatic league, Turkish Airlines Euroleague and Eurocup.
