Turkish Airlines Euroleague Playoffs, Game 2
With two games today and two games tomorrow, excitements in Turkish Airlines Euroleague Playoffs will continue in Game 2. As you know Game 1 finished yesterday with two games.
There were not much surprises in these four Match-ups in Game 1. Maybe we can say that the only one unexpected result is that Olympiacos wins against Montepaschi Siena, if it is surprise.
Three other Match-ups we had an opportunity to see expected wins, and actually pretty easy wins of home teams in Game 1.
I am sure that there will be much more excitements in Game 2, since I am sure that teams who lost will try to even, especially in Match-up Panathinaikos vs. Maccabi Electra.
In first two Match-ups played at Tuesday, March 20, Barcelona Regal wins over Unics, and Panathinaikos topped Maccabi Electra.
Barcelona Regal had no much problems in this win over Unics, even results 78:66 and difference of +12 is not that big. Of course, difference is not important, but probably some people expected to see bigger difference in this game.
Pete Mickeal led Barcelona Regal with 22 points and 7 rebounds, Erazem Lorbek added 15 points and 5 rebounds and Juan Carlos Navarro scored 13 points with terrible percentage for 3-points 1/7.
In Unics, Nathan Jawai scored 15 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, Henry Domercant added 12 points and Vladimir Veremeenko scored 11 poinst and 9 rebounds.
In second Match-up at Tuesday, in Match-up that was expected to be the most interesting one, Panathinaikos hammered Maccabi Electra 93:73. I am sure that no one expected such high defeat for Maccabi Electra, but I am sure that in Game 2 we will see much better game and I am sure that Maccabi Electra will do everything for revenge.
Coach Zeljko Obradovic said after Game 1: “I am satisfied especially because we had no problems with their defense, especially double-team defense. Since it is Playoff, and we play more game against Maccabi Electra, we have to forget this game and prepare for the next one. I am sure that fans will enjoy in this game.”
Dimitris Diamantidis led his team to this great win with 15 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds, Nick Calathes scored 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
For Maccabi Electra, Keith Langford scored 21 points, Devin Smith added 17 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. All other players in Maccabi Electra scored 6 or less points.
In two Match-ups played yesterday, March 21, CSKA Moscow topped Gescrap BB 98:71, and in only win for guests, Olympiacos beat Montepaschi Siena 82:75.
CSKA Moscow had no problems with Gescrap BB in 98:71 win, and it was obvious that CSKA players play as much as it is necesarry. Not much waste of energy. I am sure that we will see pretty same situation in next game.
Nenad Krstic led his team with 18 points, Alexey Shved added 15 points and Jamont Gordon Added 14 points.
In Gescrap BB, Kostas Vasiliadis scored 15 points, Alex Mumbru added 14 points and Marko Banic added 9 points.
In second Match-up yesterday, Montepaschi Siena lost from Olympiacos 75:82, even most of people expected win for Italian team. This is good, since I beleive that we will see much better game in Game 2 and great fight between these two teams.
In Montepaschi Siena, David Andersen had a great game with 28 points and 7 rebounds, Bo McCalebb scored 15 points and had 4 assists, Igor Rakocevic added 11 points.
In Olympiacos, Georgios Printezis led his team with 20 points and 3 assists, Kyle Hines and Vassilis Spanoulis scored 15 points each.
