Rumors finally confirmed. Svetislav Pesic is new coach of German National team. Current coach of Crvena Zvezda Diva, will also sit on German NT bench.

In his statement Pesic confirmed that he was thinking a lot about this option, especially due to his job in Crvena Zvezda Diva where he doing great job.

After fail at EuroBasket 2011 in Lithuania, people from German Basketball Federation wanted to have Svetislav Pesic as coach of German NT.

One of the most successful Serbian coaches got positive answer from his club Crvena Zvezda Diva to coach German NT as well.

Svetislav Pesic has multi-year contract with Crvena Zvezda Diva and Nebojsa Covic president of Crvena Zvezda Diva said that there were three reasons to let Pesic to coach German NT.

Nebojsa Covic says: “One of reasons is that is great honor for all of us in Crvena Zvezda Diva that our coach will also coach German National team.”

He continues: “Second reason is that Pesic himself decided to not have summer break since he will focus in that time on German National team and all preparation.” and Covic also added: “third reason is that we sent positive message to Mrs. Angela Merkel to send green light for Serbian candidature for European Union.”

Funny huuuh, but I really like this last reason. Had no idea that Nebojsa Covic is so funny guy.

Ingo Weiss, president of DBB (German Basketball Federation) said: “I am very happy that we can work with such a successful and famous coach like Pesic. He is extremely experienced and he is exactly the coach that we wanted to have.”

This will be the second time for Svetislav Pesic to coach German NT, since he already served as head coach in period 1987 – 1993.
