Euroleague playoffs start today

It seems that Euroleague never been so interesting. Today playoffs start and we can expect more excitements in next few weeks.

Eight teams, eight power houses, all of them wants to qualify to Final 4 in Barcelona and fight for Euroleague title.

Tonight at 8.00 PM CET Olympiacos will host Montepaschi Siena.
For me, no doubt, I expect Olympiacos to win. With Dusan Ivkovic as a Head coach, Milos Teodosic, Zoran Erceg and Marko Keselj this Serbian colony is one of Final 4 strong candidates. On the other hand, Siena is playing great basketball. Coach Pianigiani showed this season that a strong collective can handle all challengers. A team without big stars played very strong defense, based on physical contact, and Ivkovic guys will not be easy to secure placement in the Final Four.

At 8.30 PM CET Caja Laboral with host Maccabi Electra.
The team from Vitoria, led by Dusko Ivanovic, has good players, but the biggest problem is the lack of consistency in the game. In these matches we will have duel “eagles”. Nemanja Bjelica will be in uniform Caja Laboral oppose Milan Macvan, who stepped up to the half-season Maccabi and has a big playing time in the rotation by David Blatt.

At 8.30 PM CET Real Madrid vs. Power Electronic Valencia.
Will be very interesting in Spanish quarterfinal duel, Real against Valencia. Ettore Messina, and Jorge Garbajosa, left “Royal Club”. Real will have no easy rivals. Since he arrived in Vlancia, Svetislav Pesic regenerated this club. Today, Valencia is a team that can beat any opponent. Pesic in this clash has an extra motive as it is often mentioned in Spanish media that he could be the new coach of Real Madrid.

Finally, game of the week, at 8.30 PM CET Barcelona will host Panathinaikos.
Barca defending the trophy won last year in Paris. Catalans played another excellent season, only two losses were recorded in regular season. As time passes Pasquale’s team looks better and better. In the opinion of many basketball fans, the best team in Europe. Panathinaikos, led by trophy winner in European basketball, Zeljko Obradovic will try to surprise Barcelona.

I must admitt, that I am very happy to see that Euroleague playoffs will be full of Serbian coaches and players. Another one proof of quality of Serbian basketball.
