Crvena Zvezda Telekom burned in fantastic atmosphere

Can’t remember better atmosphere in Pionir Sport hall in Belgrade in this season, or maybe in last few seasons.

Everything was ready for great spectacle and fans of Crvena Zvezda Telekom, about 8.000, were hoping for great game and new win in Eurocup Last 16 phase.

But, it didn’t happen. Galatasaray Medical Park was too strong for team of coach Vlada Vukoicic, who looks pretty disappointed after this game.

In his statement he said: “Galatasaray deserved this win. We expected too much from this game, but we were not at the expected level.”

He continues: “It seems that this great atmosphere, had too much influence on us, we played under pressure. Our defense were not on necessary high level.”

Yes, it really seems that this fantastic atmosphere caused that players of Crvena Zvezda Telekom played under pretty much pressure.

In moments they looked pretty confused and without idea in offense. Of course, great defense by Galatasaray caused most of problems.

Galatasaray have great roster, they created team for Euroleague, and it is goal in this season to qualify to Turkish Airlines Euroleague.

After great start in Eurocup Last 16 and win against Ratiophar Ulm, game against Galatasaray probably came at the best possible moment for Crvena Zvezda Telekom.

Hopefully, they will analyze situation and according to financial possibilities maybe sign more players, if they still have plans to play Euroleague in next season.

Too bad, that there is no much time for deeper analyses, since Crvena Zvezda Telekom at Saturday, play important game in ABA Adriatic league, against current leader, Igokea.

Jamont Gordon led 6 Galatasaray players in double digits with 22 points on 9-of-10 two-point shots. Carlos Arroyo added 19 on 5-of-8 three-point shots, Boni Ndong had 15 while Milan Macvan, Ender Arslan and David Hawkins each got 10 for the winners.

Igor Rakocevic led Zvezda with 16 points. DeMarcus Nelson had 13, Rasko Katic added 12 and Elton Brown for 10 for the hosts.
