ABA Adriatic league Game 9

aba adriatic league

As I believed this game 9 in ABA Adriatic league brought several very interesting games.

No change at the top, Maccabi Electra is still there and they are still undefeated. As I can see the situation, Maccabi Electra have great possibility maybe to finish regular season without loss.

They are superior team in this competition and many people from Basketball world predicted that there is no chance that anyone else except Maccabi Electra win ABA Adriatic league title in this season.

There are still many games to be played until Final 4, so let’s wait and see what will happen in following weeks of competition.

Maccabi Electra beat Cedevita in very exciting game. Cedevita played well during whole game, but quite not enough to beat Maccabi.  96:89 (21:26, 33:18, 20:28, 22:17), with Guy Pnini’s 26 points and overall value of 33 gave him MVP of the week 9 title. For Cedevita, great performance of Dontaye Draper with 28 points and 6 assists.

As I expected Partizan mt:s had no big problems to beat Hamofarm in Belgrade. It was interesting game to watch but only in first 20 minutes. After that, full domination of Black and Whites team. For Partizan mt:s, Marko Cakarevic scored 14 points and Dragan Milosavljevic and Nikola Pekovic added 13 points each. This could be the last game for Nikola Pekovic in ABA Adriatic league, since as it seems that NBA lockout could finally finish. As we wrote here, it seems that NBA season could start right at Christmas day, so all players from NBA currently playing in Europe will start their exodus to United States in following days. Too bad for Partizan mt:s.

Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) lost another one game as I predicted few days ago. Their agony is just continues. Even they played well in this game against Krka, Krka deserves this win and pushed Crvena Zvezda in real and deep troubles.  It is funny statement of Crvena Zvezda coach Svetislav Pesic that he is satisfied that his players did their best in this game. So, many people asks: “If they did their best and lost from team from the bottom of standing, where Crvena Zvezda belong?” Of course, at this moment they belong to the bottom of standing and as it seems they will stay there a long time.

Siroki beat Buducnost in extraordinary game, and for me maybe the best game in this week of ABA Adriatic league.  During whole game result was tight, and finally in last seconds with for me big referees mistake, Buducnost earned overtime. In overtime, Siroki proved their qualities and deserves to win in this game. 84:77 (14:16, 18:20, 15:16, 23:18, 14:7), as Fran Pilepic scored 25 points for Siroki. On the other side Cedomir Virkovac scored 22 points and earned MVP of the game title.

Other results: Radnicki beat Zagreb 85:83, Helios beat Zlatorog 83:66 and Cibona beat Olimpija 81:70.
