Zalgiris tabs Trifunovic as head coach
It is officially announced on Zalgiris Kaunas official website. Aleksandar Trifunovic is new coach of Zalgiris Kaunas.
After days in search for new coach, Zalgiris Kaunas owner Vladimir Romanov decided to hire Trifunovic as a head coach till the end of season.
In last 30 months club from Kaunas changed even 7 coaches. The last one, Ilias Zouros has been fired two weeks ago.
“At this moment Trifunovic is the best choice for us. Serbs know Lithuanian Basketball very well, and Trifunovic previously coached Lietuvos Rytas and had very good results“ said Zalgiris owner Vladimir Romanov.
He also added “After talks with Trifunovic I understood that he has enough knowledge and motivation to coach our team”.
In his career, Aleksandar Trifunovic coached Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade), Panionios and Spartak St. Petersburg.
Zalgiris is in a pretty tough situation, since they lost both games in Euroleague. They are in group B with Unicaja, Zagreb, Panathinaikos, CSKA and Bamberg.
Trifunovic will have another one serb in Zalgiris, player Milan Rakovic.
