Great start of Turkish Airlines Euroleague season for Union Olimpija as they topped Mapooro Cantu 71-84 in Euroleague opener.

I must say unexpectedly, Union Olimpija reached its first Turkish Airlines Euroleague season opener win on the road in 10 years.

Great game, and I must say that I was positively surprised with Union Olimpija game, and especially with their good shooting percentage.

Aron Baynes collected 16 points and 12 rebounds, Dylan Page scored 17 points, Sasu Salin added 15 points and Jaka Blazic chipped in 12 for the winners.

Pietro Aradori led the way for Cantu with 16 points and 8 rebounds while Manuchar Markoishvili added 13 points and Jeff Brooks had 10 in the losing effort.

In next game, Union Olimpija will host Fenerbahce Ulker at home, and it will be great opportunity to see if they have that potential to play with top teams in Euroleague.

Union Olimpija started pretty good in ABA Adriatic league as well, as they have score of 2 wins and 1 loss, and it seems that this season could be good for them.

One of the teams in Turkish Airlines Euroleague with the lowest budget, proved last night that it is not all about the money.

I just hope so that Union Olimpija will stay away from financial problems as they had in last several season, and usually it happened just in the middle of season.
