Last night with 16 games, started new season of Eurocup. There were several very interesting games in this Week 1.
Tony Parker named as MVP of Week 1. San Antonio Spurs guard who is waiting for NBA lockout and play for his Asvel Basket, had a fantastic game last night. Asvel Basket beat Valencia 87:78.
For 37 minutes he spent on the court, Parker had 34 points, 8/15 for 2 points, 3/4 for 3 points, 9/10 free throws. He also added 5 rebounds, 5 assists and with performance index rating of 40, really deserves MVP title for this week. Knicks center Ronny Turiaf added 12 points off several Parker assists
As you know, Tony Parker is one of the NBA players who came to Europe during lockout and he will help a lot to Asvel Basket.
I will just mention few other games. Cibona lost from Gravelines 71:101 in home game, Spartak SPB beat Cedevita Zagreb 73:56, FC Bayern Munich overplayed Benetton 72:62, Buducnost Voli demolishes PGE Turow 75:50, with great performance of Nikola Vucevic.
This will be very interesting season in Eurocup, especially if lockout continue, and I really hope so it will. Looking forward for next week and more excitement in this great competition.
