Nikola Pekovic, dreams come true
After period of adaptation in his first season in NBA, he finally got chance to prove all of his possibilities and qualities.
“I know what I can. Ok, maybe it is not possible that I play every game on top level, but I know that I can play good. I was just waiting for my chance.” Pekovic said.
Just three weeks ago, strong Montenegrin center was sitting on the bench most of time, but in meantime he got chance to play, and as far as all we know, he used it very well.
In very short time Nikola Pekovic became popular to Minnesota Timberwolves fans, and he got nickname Pac-Man, and several others as well. Everytime he score, “Godfather” theme is played in Arena.
At Wednesday, Minnesota Timberwolves beat Charlotte Bobcats, and Nikola Pekovic spent 43 minutes on the court and reached double-double score with 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Rick Adelman said: “In last two weeks in every game he played on top level. He doing everything needed to help his team. He is aggressive and like to fight, and that kind of player is necessary to every team.”
In his rookie season last year, Nikola Pekovic had 5.5 points and 3 rebounds approximately pre game. In that season, Pekovic was substitute for Serbian center Darko Milicic.
“I tried to learn as much as possible and to improve my game. If you want to play in this league, you must play defense. I am trying to play strong and to avoid stupid fouls.” Pekovic said.
In last 9 games, Pekovic had 17.1 points and 11.7 rebounds per game.
