Davis Bertans is new player of Partizan mt:s Belgrade. Young Bertans (203 cm, 19 years old), signed today three and a half years contract with Partizan mt:s and will move to Belgrade.

One of the most talented young players in Europe, chosen as a 42nd pick in last season NBA Draft from Indiana Pacers, will play for Black and Whites in next three and a half seasons.

My feelings are pretty mixed about this signing. On one hand I am very glad that we got another one talented player and the most important in long term.

On the other hand, I am sad because I know that other Serbian talents, currently in Partizan mt:s will warm the bench for the rest of the season or even won’t be between 12 players for games.

Fans are also pretty separated as I can see on discussion boards for same reasons, but we all wish warm welcome to new player in our team.

Bertans was born in Valmiera, Latvia in 1992. He started his career in ASK Riga, played for Union Olimpija but due hard financial situation in Slovenian team, he became free agent and signed contract with his new team.

As we already wrote that Acie Law left Partizan mt:s due to “personal” reasons, read “looking for NBA option”, Partizan mt:s is in a search for new player on position 1.

However, Bertans is not that player, so it will be interesting who will be another one new player in Black and White jersey in coming days.

I must say, that we will find that substitution for Acie Law, even if it is not an easy goal in the middle of the season, but I believe that we have another one even bigger problem.

We need a coach for Partizan mt:s, someone with more authorities than current coach Vlada Jovanovic, and I still hoping that ex coach Dule Vujosevic will come back soon.

Once again, welcome to Bertans and I hope so that he will understand very soon where he came, and that Partizan mt:s is great institution and adjust to some rules as soon as possible and give his best in every game.
