The most interesting news in most of Serbian sports media is that Darko Milicic (Minnesota Timberwolves) finally “opened his soul” to the media and talked about his reasons to not play for Serbia National team in EuroBasket 2011 in Lithuania.

But, not just that, Milicic according to Serbian media used trash talk to speak about Dusan Ivkovic, Head coach of Serbia National team.

Darko Milicic says: ” I wanted to play for Serbia National team, and this is not really ok that Ivkovic said that I didn’t want to respond on his phone calls. Secondly, he is getting old and he can’t give up of his ego.”

Even Milicic says that he respects Ivkovic as an older person he also continues: ” I could tell this story much earlier, but I didn’t want to, I respect him as an older person, but, he is lying as a dog. He knew very well where I am, he could come and pick me up if he wanted. For all of them in Basketball Federation of Serbia I was always available even they didn’t much care when I was injured. No one can call just day before and invite me to play for National team. How can I come tomorrow, I have wife and kids? How’s possible that someone who is payed coach may be hero and patriot and we players, play for nothing and we are not heroes and patriots.”

Former player of Hemofarm, Detroit, Orlando and Memphis talked about his plans: “I am going to stay in Minnesota, and if you ask me about lockout, it is not up to me. I hope so that things will be fixed soon.”

Milicic also commented Nikola Pekovic and other players who came from NBA to play during lockout. He says: “He play for Partizan mt:s until end of lockout, after that he will be back in NBA. I am not that kind of person. I wish to play for Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) but I am afraid to stay only week or two and after that to disappoint fans. When  I finish with NBA I will come.”

There are very many different reactions on discussion boards and Basketball forums. Now, we looking forward to hear if Ivkovic will respond to Milicic.

Even I believe that Darko Milicic is great potential and that he should play for Serbia National team, this is not good way to try to clear out situation and problems with coach.
