Chicago Bulls Shock Miami Heat in Game 1
Before the Miami Heat’s match against the Chicago Bulls in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Monday night, they were favored by as many as 12 points depending on the sportsbook you were reading. However, expectations were turned on their heads as the game progressed, and the Chicago Bulls upset the mighty Miami Heat 93-86 in the first game of the series providing basketball punters unpredictable NBA Odds.
“I’ve played on some tough teams,” Bulls’ point guard Nate Robinson said, who scored 27 points. “But this one, there’s something a little different, something special about this group.”
“I think when you’re facing adversity, you have to be mentally tough,” Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. “But this is just one game. We have to play a lot better in our next one.”
The Heat were overwhelming favorites heading into the series; the Chicago Bulls just game off a seven-game series against the Brooklyn Nets that saw several of their best players either injured or sick. However, the Bulls were able to topple the Heat without All-Star Luol Deng, sick in the hospital, and without Derrick Rose, who has been out all season with a torn ACL. The Heat know they can’t take this particular team for granted; the Bulls were the ones who ended Miami’s historic 27-game winning streak earlier in the regular season.
“I’m not stunned,” James said. “This is what the playoffs is all about. We’re going against a really good team.”
Before the series began, Miami was listed as -950 moneyline favorites to win while the Bulls were set as +700 moneyline underdogs. I still think Miami is going to win this series handily, but the Bulls are certainly going to make them work for it.
