ABA Adriatic league 2013-14, Game 1 recap
With two games yesterday, Game 1 in ABA Adriatic league have completed. ABA Adriatic league fans had an great opportunity to watch all 14 teams who compete in this season and enjoy in great games.
MZT Skopje – Union Olimpija 79-60
In opening game of new season, MZT Skopje demolished Union Olimpija, even most of Basketball fans that it won’t be an easy game for hosts. MZT Skopje proved that any team who will play in Skopje will have hard time in this season. Damjan Stojanoviski and Todor Gecevski led MZT Skopje to first win with 16 points each.
Cibona – Radnicki 66-82
Not sure if anyone in Zagreb believed that Cibona will have such a terrible start in new soeason in ABA league. Radnicki came to win and they proved that on the court, giving not chances at all to host team. Superb performance of team of coach Miroslav Nikolic sent clear message to all other teams in competition, that Radnicki should be considered as very strong candidate for highest goals. Mouphtaou Yarou led Radnicki with double-double score 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Siroki Primorka – Crvena Zvezda Telekom 80-79
Another one great surprise as Siroki Primorka wins over Crvena Zvezda Telekom in Siroki Brijeg. Despite considered as favorites in this game, Crvena Zvezda Telekom didn’t show anything against much cheaper roster of Siroki. Despite having 10 times higher budget, Crvena Zvezda Telekom disappointed its fans with this bad performance. Boris Barac led Siroki with 25 points, and 18-year old Domagoj Bosnjak added 17 points and 5 assists.
Krka – Buducnost VOLI 60-57
Krka defended home court in great game against Buducnost VOLI, even Buducnost considered as favorites in this game. Buducnost led in first half, but with better defense in secnd hlaf, Krka reached win in Novo Mesto. Malcolm Ray Armstead led Krka with 21 points, Edo Muric added 10 points.
Zadar – Szolnoki Olaj 71-67
Zadar started well new season in ABA league as they defeated Hungarian team Szolnoki Olaj. Two teams that fought last season to stay in ABA league, played not so interesting game, and Szolnoki Olaj had no much chances to win. Zadar defended home court and will be interesting to see how far they can go with limited financials. Marko Car led Zadar with 17 points.
Partizan NIS – Igokea 67-56
As usual, in fantastic atmosphere in Pionir Sport hall, Partizan NIS opened new season in ABA league in style. Dominant in most of game, black and whites gave no chances to Igokea. Igokea despite pretty good roster, still looks that they need more team, and I am sure that they will be much better in coming games. Leo Westermann led Partizan NIS with 18 points. Tarence Kinsey become new idol of Partizan NIS fans, with several attractive moves as he added 15 points to win.
Mega Vizura – Cedevita 62-72
In last game in Game 1, Cedevita downed Mega Vizura in Smederevo. YOung team of Mega Vizura played well, but it was obvious that they need more experience since they are newcomers in ABA league. Cedevita have very good team, and they will be one of pretenders to at least Final 4 in this season. Nolan Smith led Cedevita with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists.
