2013 Radivoj Korac Cup, Quarterfinals Day 2
With two games today, Quarterfinals in Radivoj Korac Cup are finished. Now we have four teams who qualified for Semifinals, which will be played tomorrow.
In first game today, Radnicki easily cruised over Metalac 95-60 as it was expected. Once again confirmed that there is a big gap between teams who compete in Serbian league, and teams who compete in ABA Adriatic league.
Even without Ratko Varda, who will miss the rest of the season because of heel injury, without Kyle Visser and Steven Markovic, Radnicki had no real problems against Metalac.
Reason why Kyle Visser and Steven Markovic were not registered for Radivoj Korac Cup competition is sort of stupid rule by Serbian Basketball federation regarding number of foreign players.
Coach Miroslav Nikolic used all players from roster, and even started with Nenad Miljenovic on point-guard who didn’t have much playing time in this season in ABA Adriatic league.
It was kind expected move, since coach Miroslav Nikolic tried to save some players for upcoming semifinal games against Crvena Zvezda Telekom.
Danilo Mijatovic led Radnicki with 16 points, Terrico White scored 13 points, Nenad Miljenovic, Stefan Sinovec and Milos Dimic added 10 points each.
In Metalac, Stefan Balmazovic scored 15 points and Dragan Kruscic added 11 points.
Despite Radnicki played without few players, they dominated in this game, and proved its quality. They also confirmed its goal to try to win this trophy for the first time in club’s history.
In second game today, Crvena Zvezda Telekom topped Vojvodina Srbijagas 97-72.
From the beginning Crvena Zvezda Telekom played serious, with a good energy and engagement on the floor. Vojvodina Srbijagas tried to be tough opponent, but they couldn’t do much more.
After first 10 minutes, Crvena Zvezda Telekom had +7, 27-20, with few nice attractive moves in first quarter.
In second quarter bit better game for Vojvodina Srbijagas on moments. With more focus they could even have positive score. Mistakes in defense gave Crvena Zvezda Telekom opportunity to finish second half with +9, 51-42.
Quite same game in third quarter, Vojvodina tried, but Crvena Zvezda Telekom played as much as it was necesarry to keep distance. 75-60 for Crvena Zvezda Telekom after 30 minutes.
Last quarter, full domination of Crvena Zvezda Telekom. Even coach Vlada Vukoicic used all players in roster, Vojvodina had no chances at all. Especally bad this last quarter for Vojvodina.
Igor Rakocevic and DeMarcus Nelson led Red and whites with 19 points each, Boris Savovic added 15 points.
Tomorrow, two semifinal games, and hopefully we will see much better Basketball, and much more excitemens than in these quarterfinals.
In first semifinal game tomorrow, Partizan mt:s will face Mega Vizura at 17.00 CET. It is expcted to be easy game and win for Partizan mt:s. I am not sure if Mega Vizura is capable to surprise Black and whites.
Second semifinal game is expected to be real spectacle. Hosts of Radivoj Korac Cup tournament, Radnicki will play against Crvena Zvezda Telekom at 21.00 CET. Both of teams already announced that this title is one of the goals for this season.
We may expect fantastic atmoshpere in Jezero Sport hall, as I am sure that supporters of both teams will be there.
